I have to say that I was very disappointed with the food. They (evidently) have no experience preparing Mexican food. I realize we're all in China, but Beijing and Shanghai are full of reasonably authentic and very tasty Mexican restaurants now. For example, their tiny hotdog-sized burito is made completely wrong. There's practically nothing inside. A burrito is supposed to be a really big thing. I hope they do some research and improve. I'd love to have a good Mexican restaurant in Changchun. -

Hi, Isaac, welcome to LocalJoy! Interesting comment. Very similar style to the comments of Kevin, another of LocalJoy's users. I must confess to being the author of the purple prose you're commenting on. I do try, in my own pollyanna-ish way, to write very positive, readable descriptions of places in Changchun that cast them in what I think of as the best light. I may get carried away from time to time and my writing skills may not be adequate but I am comforted by the notion that others can temper my descriptions with comments and critiques based on their personal experience.

The Korean couple is very nice and the decor is relaxing. They use Lavazza coffee beans, a premium brand. To be honest, I liked the coffee here better than the French Bakery. The only problem is they don't serve food like the French Bakery (the quality of the French Bakery's food has deteriorated in recent years, but they do have it). Of course, deciding to offer food is a large and expensive decision. Starbucks does a great job of remaining a coffee shop but also offering some food. I wish they would have a designated non-smoking room, separating the smokers from the non-smokers (they have 2 distinct back rooms). As a non-smoker, I'd appreciate that and it would positively affect my patronage.

I think the Corner Cafe is a great new venue for TGIF. It has great possibilities. Everyone really likes the place's atmosphere. But, a humble suggestion on my part, could we maintain the Corner Cafe's non-smoking rule past 7:00pm for the duration of the evening (the place has no exhaust fans or electronic air cleaner - no effective means for dealing with cigarette smoke). Aside from the obvious health reasons, it's also nice to be able to go home without your clothes smelling like Marlboro country. I thought the highly mentioned Fish & Chips entree was lacking. Oily fish, 9 french fries and a dap of ketchup on my plate (where's the ketchup bottle that should be on each table?). I wish Grandma's Kitchen or the Steak & Egg would open up a place here. Blueberry pancakes with whipped cream on top and real omelets, here we come!
